Most of the people are wondering what makes rural Crete so special and unique ... maybe the welcoming people, the wonderful food and wine, the history of food since the ancient times and the long meals among friends and family?
With every corner having something delicious to offer it is no wonder every summer more and more food travellers visit Crete, the largest island in Greece. The island is considered to be the birthplace of Greek cuisine attracting visitors seeking to explore its delicious, yet healthy Cretan cuisine and the local wineries surrounded by endless olive groves, a unique culinary journey of flavors through time in this beautiful island.
This is a week-long experience to discover the gastronomic heritage of Crete and learn how the local food culture has changed from the Minoan times to today, and a great introduction to the authentic cuisine and local culture. Our base for this week will be between the areas of Heraklion, the center of all major local commerce and activity and Chania, a picturesque port town, surrounded by olive groves and vegetable gardens.

Mountain Trekking I

Our basic goal is to get to know and safely enjoy the amazing alpine beauty of the Pindus Tzoumerka Mountains, getting lost in a sea of the mountain peaks surrounding us. The only thing for sure is that these adventure packed days will be a memorable experience!

Mt. Olympus – Spring/Summer Trip

In the last several years the popularity of canyoning has been increasing and since Greece is a mountainous country it offers many opportunities for canyoning. Greece has a large variety of mountains with various bedrocks, gorges in all levels of difficulty and spectacular watrerfalls that offer a great opportunity to explore the sport.
Canyoning (also known as canyoneering in the U.S.) is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, rappelling and/or swimming. Canyons that are ideal for canyoning are often cut into the bedrock stone, forming narrow gorges with numerous drops, beautifully sculpted walls, breathtaking sceneries and spectacular waterfalls. Emphasis in the sport is usually on aesthetics and fun rather than pure difficulty.
The trip includes expert guides and full equipment is provided (wet suits, helmets, harnesses, ropes etc)
Visit the ancient Roman city of Dion owes its name to the important sanctuary dedicated to Zeus (Dias) leader of the gods who dwelt on Mount Olympus. Dion was the “sacred place” of the Macedonians and the ruins of the ancient city lie on the foothills of the mountain.

Pindus Tzoumerka Mountains trekking II

Our basic goal is to get to know and safely enjoy the amazing alpine beauty of the Athamanica Mountains (Tzoumerka, Kakarditsa) The crossing, a long trip that gives us the opportunity to explore one by one the three beautiful mountains of the Pindus mountain range (Tzoumerka-Kakarditsa-Peristeri) Riding the long mountain ridge connecting one with the other and traversing in an over 2000 meter elevation through most of the duration of our trek, getting lost in a sea of the mountain peaks surrounding us, the only thing for sure is that these adventure packed days will be a memorable experience!
The planning and execution of this trekking adventure is fully supported by our team of experts in the area.
Experienced and highly knowledgeable guides fully trained will make sure the group moves smoothly and overnights safely in high elevations.
Organized camp sites will be awaiting the group at the end of each day with freshly prepared food. To get you going every day, you’ll need lots of energy and our cooks make sure there is plenty of healthy, quality food at hand. Our team carries all the supplies including fresh produce. Meals consist of local produce and special requests (vegetarian) can almost always be accommodated if we are informed in advance.
The support team will prepare the camp sites by carrying the camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, etc.) and making sure the water supplies are renewed for everybody. They will carry plenty of wood to set up the dreamy camp fires to keep us warm as we gather around to rest and enjoy the views, surroundings and looking into starry nights as we exchange stories and experiences.
You will also have the option of having fresh clean clothing brought up from the refuge so you won’t have to carry excess weight in your back packs.
